About the Role

Prophetic is scaling fast — we've grown from a handful of people to 28+ in under a year, and demand is outpacing our ability to hire across every function. We need a Head of Talent Acquisition to own the entire recruiting engine: strategy, sourcing, pipeline management, employer branding, and process design.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll personally recruit for critical hires while building the infrastructure and playbooks that allow Prophetic to scale hiring across engineering, sales, account management, product, and operations. You'll partner directly with the CEO, Chief of Staff, and department heads to define role requirements, manage external recruiting partners, and ensure every candidate has an exceptional experience.

You'll also own the employer brand on LinkedIn and other channels — coordinating job postings, team content, and referral programs. Prophetic's culture is a real competitive advantage in recruiting, and you'll be responsible for making sure candidates feel that from first touch to offer.

This role requires regular in-person collaboration at our Portland, OR headquarters (1–2 times per month minimum). Final-round interviews for all roles are conducted in person, and your presence on-site is important for calibration, culture, and candidate experience. PNW-based candidates are strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

  • Own the full-cycle recruiting function — from headcount planning and job description creation through sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and offer management.
  • Personally recruit for high-priority roles across engineering, sales, product, and operations.
  • Build and manage the recruiting pipeline using modern ATS and CRM tools.
  • Partner with department heads to define role requirements, interview processes, and evaluation criteria.
  • Manage relationships with external recruiting agencies and sourcing partners.
  • Design and implement structured interview processes that are rigorous, efficient, and candidate-friendly.
  • Own employer branding on LinkedIn and other platforms — coordinate job postings, team content, and referral campaigns.
  • Build and maintain recruiting dashboards that track pipeline health, time-to-hire, conversion rates, and source effectiveness.
  • Develop onboarding coordination processes to ensure new hires have a seamless first-week experience.
  • Establish and run a referral program that leverages the team's networks.

What You Need

  • 7+ years of experience in talent acquisition, with at least 3 years in a leadership or solo-lead recruiting role.
  • Track record of building recruiting functions at high-growth startups — you've personally delivered 50+ hires in a year.
  • Experience recruiting across technical (engineering, data, product) and go-to-market (sales, AM, marketing) roles.
  • Strong sourcing skills — you can build pipeline from scratch, not just manage inbound.
  • Experience managing external recruiting agencies and negotiating fee structures.
  • Deep understanding of structured interviewing, competency-based evaluation, and bias mitigation.
  • Comfort with AI tooling as part of your recruiting workflow.
  • Exceptional communication and candidate experience instincts.
  • Willingness to travel to Portland, OR headquarters 1–2 times per month.

Nice to Have

  • Experience recruiting in proptech, real estate technology, or construction technology.
  • Background at a venture-backed startup that scaled from <50 to 200+ employees.
  • Experience with org design, compensation benchmarking, and talent strategy beyond just recruiting.
  • PNW-based (Oregon or Washington).
